This first solo exhibition focussed on African rural life, figure compositions, landscapes and animal studies.

These works were stylistically influenced by the ‘Fauves’ and Expressionists of the early 20th century – styles themselves influenced by African art.

Taking it full circle, the bright clashing colours and the distortion of the subject matter used to portray vibrant African scenes proved apt to the subject matter being explored.
